Georgia Tech added a key defensive piece for the 2025 class with the commitment of Warner Robins (Ga.) defensive back Rasean Dinkins following his official visit to the Flats over the weekend.

Dinkins committed to Tech head coach Brent Key during a meal on his official visit.

"We were actually in the restaurant eating and I asked Coach Key to step outside and he took his cookie, held it up in the air and broke it in half and then he called the other players over to listen and he said say what you said again, I said that I wanted to commit and everyone got hyped and started chanting and cheering me on to congratulate me. It was very good and brought a lot of excitement to it."

"It is a pretty cool vibe," Dinkins said. "Being close to the city, you've got a lot of things to do and also the players just welcomed me like I was already here with them working with them the whole summer so that was kind of a big thing. The coaches are great dudes."

Dinkins is being recruited primarily as a safety for the Jackets aka the stud position in the new defense under first-year defensive coordinator Tyler Santucci.

"They see me playing the stud position, but they like to move their defensive backs around," he said.

"My favorite parts of the visit, I love to eat so that is one of them. We had all types of food from Oceanaire and Local Three. Also, the meeting with the coaches was very important to me. Getting to sit there and connect with the coaching staff and build more of a connection with them was big. I already had a connection with them. That was very good."

Dinkins will be reunited with a former teammate at Tech, Jackets' freshman receiver Isiah Canion. Canion wasn't Dinkins host, but the pair linked up during the visit.

"I got to see Isiah during bowling and Isiah being here wasn't a big part of my commitment, but him being here is great because he is like my brother," he said. "It was the great coaching staff and the players that brought me to Georgia Tech."

"My family just wanted what is best for me and they are really proud of my decision," he said.

Dinkins said following his commitment to Tech he is canceling other official visits he had planned to Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

"I do not plan on taking those visits," he said.
