The Jackets dip into the Panhandle for DB Chandler

The future secondary at Georgia Tech got a boost with the commitment of Wakulla (Fla.) defensive back Nehemiah Chandler following his official visit to the Flats. Chandler is the first commitment for the Jackets in the secondary in the 2024 class.

"I committed yesterday actually at the dinner," Chandler told JOL. "This is home for me. I'm 100 percent committed."

Chandler committed as a cornerback helping fill one of the biggest areas of need in the 2024 class.

"My playing style is a great fit and I am going to come in here and ball," Chandler said.

"The visit went great. I got to sit down with Coach Thacker and meet Coach Key and Coach Tillman. The hospitality was great and I love the city, the people, and the school. It was great," Chandler said. "The coaches were a big part of why I committed. Their minds were blown that I committed. They were on my trail since my spring game and my stock rose."

Star safety LaMiles Brooks played host for Chandler and the pair bonded over their connections to Jacksonville.

"LaMiles was my host and we are both from Jacksonville. That made my visit even better seeing him here and having him here with me," Chandler said. "LaMiles coming from my hometown and he is an All-American and me coming in, I can do the same thing. It could be a big thing for our city.

The Jackets edged out UCF for Chandler following his OV to Orlando last week. He said his commitment is the final word in his recruitment.

"I'm done. This is it for me," Chandler said of his recruitment.

Chandler plans to enroll in January as a mid-year early enrollee. He joins former Yellow Jacket offensive tackle Chris Griffin as a rare pickup from Wakulla south of Tallahassee near the Gulf of Mexico.
