Tech lands second 2023 commit in DE Zachariah Keith

Georgia Tech continued a strong June run of commitments with the pledge of Douglas County (Ga.) defensive end, Zachariah Keith, on Friday. The 2023 defensive end was on campus earlier this week for an unofficial visit after landing an offer from the Jackets mid-month. Keith wasted no time after hanging with the Tech staff and committed.

"What made Georgia Tech feel like home for me was when I first walked through the doors on my visit. Coach (Marco) Coleman made me feel like I was at home," Keith said. "He greeted me with a big handshake and a hug. They showed me around the campus and that was something I have never seen. What really reeled me in was when we visited the Players' Lounge and we all sat down and played the video game together. That made me feel like Georgia Tech was family and it felt like home to me."

Keith is the second commitment for the 2023 class joining Miami running back Javin Simpkins. He said his family was very comfortable with his early decision to commit to Tech.

"My family thinks I made the right decision not just for sports, but also for the academics at Tech," he said. "I knew I was going to commit about two weeks after getting the offer."

Keith committed to play defensive end and he said that having a good relationship with coach Coleman and the scheme fit were also big factors for him.

"I think that I would fit into the defense really well. I'm going to play defensive end

One of the benefits of the return to on-campus camps was a recruitment like Keith's. He earned his offer at Tech's camp.

"I got the offer later. It wasn't a conversation we had while I was on campus on my visit, I actually got the offer at camp," he said. "I was totally shocked by the offer and I felt like I was living in a dream."

With his early commitment in the books, Keith says he will put on his recruiting cap and try to help Tech with the any recruits he has relationships with to help build the program up.
