Norcross corner makes 5 commits for GT

Three-star Norcross (Ga.) cornerback Dameon Williams meant business when he brought his family with him to Atlanta on Saturday to meet with the Yellow Jacket coaches. By early Saturday evening he was a Jacket.

"Many great programs were recruiting me Michigan State, Missouri, Mississippi State and I had good relationships with all of them, but overall I felt like Georgia Tech is where I belonged during the whole process," he said. I took 3-4 visits to GT and it fit like a great fit," he said. My family is very excited that I am close to home."

During his visit on Saturday, Williams met with his main recruiter Ted Roof as well as defensive line coach Mike Pelton who gave him a tour of Tech's campus.

"I met with coach Roof and coach Pelton and they told me about my recruitment and we talked about why I should come and I saw things I haven't seen in my previous visits and talked with coach Roof one-on-one," he said. "When I committed coach Roof was very proud and they were thankful and I was real happy. I have no second guessing going on." I really wasn't planning on holding off and when I found what I wanted."

Williams will have a chance to play with his former teammate Jarett Cole who reports next week to begin his freshman year as a Jacket, but Williams said that was less of a factor.

"We are real cool me and Jarett, but that wasn't part of the decision, would love to play with someone like that I had chemistry though in college," he said.

As the fifth commit for the class, Williams is the second defensive commit joining another Gwinnett area player, TD Roof in the 2017 Yellow Jacket class.
