Kicker makes commit #4 for Jackets

Georgia Tech landed the fourth commitment for the 2017 recruiting class on Thursday evening from two-star Mandeville (La.) kicker Joseph Bulovas. The talented placekicker is rated as the second best in the nation for 2017 by Chris Sailer Kicking. Bulovas announced his decision via Twitter on Friday evening.

Bulovas worked out for the Jackets at spring camp last Sunday kicking for the entire Tech staff.

"I had been up to Tech around Easter for an unofficial visit then I camp up for the camp last Sunday and they offered me a scholarship on the spot," he said.

After earning his offer, Bulovas toured campus more in-depth and visited with players to get a feel for what Tech has to offer and that helped lead him to his decision to commit.

"I felt really comfortable with the coaches and Harrison Butker gave me some good information on the engineering program which is his major and what I want to major in," Bulovas said. "The academic part and the availability of playing time right away for a major P5 school made Georgia Tech a great fit and led to my commitment."

Bulovas is more than just a kicker though and he says he will bring a football player mentality to the position instead of being another typical kicker.

"I feel like I bring a lot more to the table than some skinny kid who can kick it. I play quarterback for my high school and I'm a pitcher who can hit 88 to 89 miles-per-hour and I'm a kicker with a big strong leg so I'm an athlete that happens to be a great kicker," he said.

Thursday night Bulovas informed the Tech staff of his decision and he said his family is fully on board with him being a Jacket.

"My family supports my decision 100-percent. They love the school, the academics and they think athletically it is a great fit for me so when I said I wanted to commit they were ready. It was a decision I made with my family," he said.

He is the second specialist in the 2017 class joining top punter Pressley Harvin III who was the first commit for the Jackets' class back in March. Bulovas had offers from Tulane, UTSA, Air Force and Army and was a target for LSU as well.
