GT LB Evans enters the portal

Redshirt freshman linebacker Cornelius Evans entered into the transfer portal on Friday after two years in the Georgia Tech football program. One of Geoff Collins' first signees, the three-star former Central Gwinnett standout was caught between playing linebacker and defensive end without finding a good fit in the Jackets' 4-2-5 scheme at either position. He had not dressed out for home games and had yet to appear in a game during his two years on the Flats. He opted out for 2020 due to family medical reasons.

Evans is likely to find a spot in a team looking for a pass-rushing outside linebacker type like an odd-front defense. He is the third of the eight late-signees to the 2019 class to transfer out joining fellow linebacker Kendall Young and receiver Nazir Burnett who both left during the 2019 season. Evans is the second player this season to enter the portal joining Jahaziel Lee.
