Lewis has several high-major offers

Four-star point guard Jamie Lewis has no shortage of options going into his junior year of high school basketball. The 6-foot-3 floor general first emerged as a legitimate high-major prospect helping the Georgia Stars 16-under win the 2015 Peach Jam championship, and he followed it up by helping Westlake High School win the state championship in Georgia’s highest classification.

Right now, he says Auburn, Baylor, Georgia Tech and UConn are the schools showing the most attention. California, Florida and Kansas have also been involved with him.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Lewis dishes on what stands out about the schools recruiting him hardest.

Auburn: “Bruce Pearl, he’s a good recruiter. I like the team. I’ve seen them scrimmage and they all play hard. I really like them.”

Baylor: “I haven’t really seen them play too much, but their coaches have told me they like my game and I can come in and impact the team right away.”

Georgia Tech: “I really like their school, the location, and the tradition of the school. I like the tradition of their point guards. It’s a good school.”

UConn: “I like how they produce point guards too and how they play with so much intensity. They have had a lot of good point guards.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

It’s just about time to start the high school basketball season in Georgia, so look for Lewis to put recruiting on the back burner for the next few months. He’s pretty intent on waiting until next year to make a decision on where he’ll play college basketball.

RIVALS' REACTION

It’s still early in the process for Lewis. Even though he’s been getting recruited by schools for over a year now, a lot can still change with him. Auburn is going to have Chuma Okeke in his ear throughout the high school season about joining him on The Plains as they are high school teammates and played on the Georgia Stars together. Another Georgia Stars teammate, Ikey Obiagu, has both Baylor and Georgia Tech as finalists as he closes in on a decision, so one of those schools could be landing an ally in hopes of signing Lewis. And lastly, you can never count out UConn and Kevin Ollie when it comes to recruiting point guards.
