Drummonds ready

It's been a long three years for linebacker, Daniel Drummond. After redshirting his freshman year, and missing his redshirt freshman year due to suspension, the six-foot-three, 240-pound defender is finally ready to make an impact. With only a few weeks left until the first game of the season, Drummond is focused on making the most of his opportunity.
"Right now I'm just thinking about really investing my time in camp, and I know that the time is getting close to play. [I'm] just taking every chance [to get better]," Drummond said. "I'm pretty new to the defense so I make a lot of mistakes. I have a mistake journal, and I correct it and I'm just trying to get as prepared as possible."

With this being his first year on the defensive side of things, Drummond stated that things have started to slow down for him as he gets a better grasp on the scheme.
"I said to some of the guys, that it feels like my reads are in slow motion. My field awareness, and training my eyes is one of the most important things, and it's gotten a lot better."
While Drummond continues to impress and improve, some of the incoming freshman and younger players have performed well, too. Drummond was quick to praise the younger linebackers.
"Anytime the younger guys come in, they're hungry and want to play," stated Drummond. "They're trying to prove themselves, and they're good athletes. As the older guys, or the starters, we have to prove ourselves just as much and defend our spots."
Drummond's spot appears safe for the time being, meaning that he will finally get to take the field as a starter and a major contributor. Drummond stated that when that time comes, it will be a special moment for him.
"It's been a long time coming, and it's been a journey. I've worked really hard to get to this position. I feel like all the hard work will finally pay off, and I'll get to play in a game again and have some fun. That's why we practice, to have fun in the games, and I haven't had that in a while. It'll be good to get a little reward."
