Talamaivao a Trojan

Corona Centennial four-star offensive guard Viane Talamaivao officially visited Alabama a week ago, but that trip brought with it a good dose of reality.

Visiting Tuscaloosa with his father, Talamaivao insisted that the distance factor would not be an issue for him, but noted his family wanted him to go to college closer to home.

Monday night, his high school teammate, Tre Watson, accidentally let the cat out of the bag by Instragramming a photo of Talamaivao giving a Fight On sign. A few hours later, Centennial head coach Matt Logan issued this statement.

"I have been told that Viane has de-committed from Alabama and has committed to USC. It had to do with him staying closer to family."

In an interview with USCFootball.com Sunday, Talamaivao discussed his recent unofficial visit to USC.

"I'm looking forward to it," said Talamaivao. "It will be a cool experience for my parents. All this stuff with SC, my family is still really kind of strong with me staying home."

And thus, a chink in his commitment to Alabama was revealed. Since Ed Orgeron was named interim head coach at USC, the Trojans have made a much stronger push for Talamaivao.

"They talk about me playing close to home and stuff like that," said Talamaivao. "They talk about the great tradition USC has and about really trying to build something new with this class."

"They want me to stay home and play for them. They want to return USC to what fans are use to. Back to where Pete Carroll had USC at. Winning championships and winning big games."

Now, whether this commitment is solid remains to be seen. While USC will be his last official visit of the year, Talamaivao did not say it would be his only official visit. Washington has also been a school of interest for Talamaivao in recent months.

This is USC's fourth offensive line commitment, and the Trojans No. 10 pledge in the 2014 class. What may help solidify Talamaivoa's place with USC are his cousin Austin Maloata and his friend Toa Lobendahn.

Like Talamaivao, both are long time Trojan fans and very close with each other.

USCFootball.com will have more on this breaking commitment when news becomes available.
