Queiro makes it 10
Kyle Queiro of Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic.Northwestern continued its red-hot recruiting roll with the commitment of three-star athlete
The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder chose the Wildcats over offers from at least 13 other schools, including Boston College, Illinois, North Carolina, NC State, Purdue, Rutgers, Vanderbilt and West Virginia. He was being recruited primarily as a safety by the Wildcats but could play wide receiver if needs dictate.
Queiro is the 10th member of Northwestern's Class of 2013, which has added four new recruits in the last week and a total of eight this month.
He is ranked 57th in the country among athletes and 20th among all prospects in New Jersey.
The Wildcats were always at the top of the list with Queiro, who was high school teammates with NU redshirt freshman wideout Cameron Dickerson.
"It offers the best of both worlds, academics and football," he told WildcatReport. "They play in a great conference and they're one of the Top schools in academics."
He was also impressed by Wildcat coaches and players during an overnight visit to Evanston in late March.
"The one thing that sold itself was the people at Northwestern," said Queiro, who visited with his father. "They are just the nicest people, even if they weren't football players. A lot of places talk about family, but you really feel it there."
Queiro is just the second defensive player of NU's class, joining DE Eric Joraskie, and its sixth three-star prospect.
