Versatile Adams catches UT's attention

Fort Worth All Saints Episcopal standout Kendall Adams has established himself as a versatile athlete. In the spring he worked some at quarterback, and has played both wide receiver and safety.

The versatility, combined with a 6-1, 175-pound frame tends to attract attention from college coaches, and when he attended the June 10 Texas camp that was the case.

"It was great out there," Adams said. "The coaches were real nice and I learned a lot from them. There was a lot of competition out there as well."

He worked at both safety and receiver on the day and enjoyed his time with both defensive backs coach Duane Akina and wide receivers coach Darrell Wyatt.

Defense is fun for Adams, and make no mistake he loves making the big hit, but his passion is at receiver. At the Texas camp he made sure to take advantage of his time working with coach Wyatt.

"It's real fun," he said. "They're real competitive with the defense. They taught me a lot about releases like if the DBs come up to press. That was real fun."

After the camp, the Texas coaches let All Saints head coach Aaron Beck know they were impressed with what they saw from Adams along with 2014 teammates Daniel Gresham and Demetrius Knox. In fact, the Texas coaches were hoping to speak with all three but they were already on their way back to Fort Worth.

The interest, along with the camp experience, has Texas high on Adams' list at this early point in the process.

"Texas is definitely at the top," Adams said.

In addition to Texas, Adams is receiving interest from Duke, Rice, Baylor, Colorado and Oklahoma St.

As a sophomore, Adams recorded 247 yards and three TDs on 19 receptions and tallied 64 tackles, two INTs, and two fumble recoveries on defense.
