Eagles look strong with 2013 QBs
Boston College has been active in offering quarterbacks from the current junior class and today EagleAction.com takes a look at some of the 2013 signal callers that are listing the Eagles.
Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral
Offers: BC, Arizona, Arizona State, Purdue, Vanderbilt
When talking about Boston College and junior quarterbacks Rettig.
Of course, Chase Rettig is Hayden's brother so that's an interesting dynamic working in this one that's tough to quantify right now. You've got to remember that when it comes to when it comes to some younger siblings their decision can be determined by the quality of their older sibling's experience at a given school.
We know that Hayden is taking a serious look at BC but we've spoken with the 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback and he has been honest about the fact that he's not eager to get involved in the recruiting process. At one point he laughed and said, "I'm only a junior," and he clearly wants to take his time with the process.
With offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Purdue and Vanderbilt, Rettig will have plenty of options. It's not as though BC is the only school he has ties to, as his mother attended Oregon State and his dad went to Southern Cal.
At this point we're inclined to think that Rettig will end up staying on the west coast somewhere but the longer this goes on, if his brother is having a positive experience at Boston College the Eagles could become a stronger contender
Ashburn (Va.) Stone Bridge
Offers: BC, Penn State, Rutgers, Stanford, Virginia, West Virginia
We believe Burns is one of the nation's best quarterbacks from 2013 and Boston College has a chance to make a major push.
In fact, just about everyone we've spoken to that has knowledge of the situation seems to think the Eagles have a realistic shot with Burns, who is one of Virginia's best prospects in a huge year for talent in the state.
Burns has a big arm and can make all the throws. He's the kind of quarterback you can build your program around. As of today he hasn't made plans to attend BC's junior day. However, he has been to BC already (over the summer) and raved about the trip after he returned home.
Keep an eye on schools like Stanford and Florida State in this one as well. Burns seems like the kind of kid that would be okay with leaving the area.
New Albany (Ohio)
While Burns and Rettig are your traditional drop back passers best suited for a pro-style offense, Lee is more of a dual-threat that can beat you through the air or on the ground.
That's not to say he doesn't have good potential as a passer. He does. In fact, he was very impressive at the NUC Midwest Ultimate100 over the summer.
While the Eagles are one of many in the running for Rettig and Burns, BC is on top for Lee. He should be visiting Chestnut Hill this spring.
Kettering (Ohio) Archbishop Alter
Offers: BC, Cincinnati, Indiana, Northwestern, Ohio State, Wisconsin
Already ranked among the top prospects in Ohio, Zaire will likely be counted as a four-star recruit and his offer list is only going to continue to grow.
You have to figure that with offers from Ohio State and other Big Ten schools it's going to be tough to pluck him out of the Midwest. He has expressed excitement over the hiring of Urban Meyer in Columbus.
Olney (Md.) Good Counsel
Offers: Virginia, Cal
Marshall is quietly gaining steam as a recruit to watch in recruiting circles and a few schools apparently think he would be a great fit in their system. He's a big kid that gets the ball to his receivers and distributes it to a variety of targets.
Boston College hasn't offered yet but UVa and Cal have. The Eagles will have a golden opportunity to make their case next weekend at the junior day that Marshall plans to attend.
Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame
Hilinski is still waiting for his first offer to come in but we're hearing Boston College is very interested. In fact, don't be shocked if the Eagles become the first school to offer.
It's always tough for kids so far from BC to make the long trip but Hilinski has already visited. That gives you a good idea as to the kind of early interest he has.
Stanford, Oklahoma, BC and UCLA are four schools that really like Hilinski and those four probably top his list.
