Warren Central highlights Midwest weekend
Rivals.com Midwest Analyst Josh Helmholdt will open up the 2011 high school football season in the state of Indiana with a Saturday night contest between nationally ranked Indianapolis Warren Central and Merrillville (Ind.)
1. Warren Central's eight BCS commits: RivalsHigh's No. 3 team in the country boasts eight prospects committed to BCS schools. Another is committed to Ball State and a 10th also lists Division I offers. I have seen plenty of four-star defensive tackle Sheldon Day, but less of Cincinnati commits Josh Posley, Deyshawn Bond, Jonathan Burt and Deionte Buckley, Indiana commits Kevin Davis and Jordan Wallace, and Purdue commit Jordan Shine.
2.Class of 2013 LB Tim Kimbrough: Warren Central will follow its outstanding 2012 class with another strong crop of talent in 2013, led by the 6-foot-1, 216-pound Kimbrough, who already holds offers from North Carolina and Purdue. As a sophomore, Kimbrough made plays on pure talent and instinct. I'm looking forward to seeing how he fares with another year of seasoning under his belt and how he stacks up to the other 2013 Midwest linebackers I saw this summer.
3. How the Warriors put it all together: Pulling together a team full of stars is not as easy as it sounds… just ask Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra. Expectations are high for Warren Central this season because of the wealth of talent on the roster, but getting a team full of ultra-talented teenagers to work together is not an easy job. Fourth-year head coach John Hart has had plenty of experience coaching Division I ballplayers, but they face a Merrillville team that has gone 20-5 over the last two seasons. Warren Central has won this matchup handily each of the last two seasons, however.
