Scouting Cal DE commit Noah Westerfield

Cal received more reinforcements in the defensive front seven when Wakeland (Frisco, TX) DE/OLB Noah Westerfield committed to Cal over the weekend. A long and rangy defender, the 6'3", 220-pound Westerfield decommitted from his Northwestern pledge prior to visiting Berkeley.  He also held offers from Duke, Virginia, Boise State, and Wake Forest among others.

Westerfield's senior season was marred by a significant thumb injury that caused him to miss three games and play the remainder of his season with a club cast around his hand. That, coupled with the fact that there do not appear to be any senior season highlights available of him, means we're utilizing his junior clips today for this scouting report. These clips paint a picture for a season that earned Westerfield District 9-4A First Team defensive honors.
