Versatile Belle Chasse commitment talks Tulane

Two-way Belle Chasse star Terren Encalade is a player of few words, but his commitment to Tulane this weekend spoke volumes about the Green Wave's recruiting focus on Louisiana. That decision means 12 out of the 14 members thus far in 2014 recruiting class hail from inside the border, and the only two exceptions are kickers from Florida.

"We believe in Louisiana football," Tulane coach Curtis Johnson said at Media Day earlier this month. "We believe in the coaches in the state of Louisiana. They know what they're doing coaching wise. They know how to teach these kids. They've got great young men that they're sending us so we believe in that. We're laying our jobs on the line on their kids and we'll take as many as we can because thus far, they've been outstanding for us."

Most of the commitments for 2014 are not highly rated by, and Encalade, a versatile two-star prospect with a rating of 5.2, falls into that category. He had offers from Louisiana-Monroe, McNeese State, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana and Southern before choosing Tulane, which originally recruited him as a cornerback but has told him he might end up at wide receiver, too.
