DB commitment Stephon Lofton draws high praise from his coach

Miller-McCoy in New Orleans East may be a largely unknown high school in recruiting circles, but coach Jeremiah Scott believes Tulane commitment Stephon Lofton will make a name for himself quickly.

Lofton, a speedy safety who did not have any other offers when he chose Tulane earlier this week, is much more than just a track guy.

"Stephon has tremendous ball skills," Scott said. "If you watch him play the safety position, it's almost like he's a rover because he knows how to find the ball. Sometimes his speed works against him because he gets to the play so quickly that he comes out of position. But just his skill set of finding the ball and being physical. A lot of people have not seen his physical side."

Lofton is Tulane's seventh commitment out of Louisiana and the third from New Orleans.
