In-state DE interested in Spartans

One of the class of 2014 prospects that already has several scholarship offers on the table is defensive end Andre Turner of Chandler Park Academy High School in Michigan. has the latest on his recruitment.

Defensive end recruiting is something that is always important for a team like Michigan State that uses an attacking style defense. Turner will be one of the top pass rush recruits in Michigan for 2014. asked him how his recruitment and if he has gained any size this summer.

"I am 6-foot-4, 218-pounds right now," he stated. Recruiting is going pretty good. I still have the same offers (Bowling Green, Toledo, Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan."

With 4 MAC scholarship offers on the table prior to playing a down in his junior season, Turner looks poised to be a solid BCS level recruit once Big Ten coaches get their hands on his highlight film. Turner talked about the schools that are currently standing out.

"Michigan State, Cincinnati and Western Michigan are the schools that interest me the most right now," Turner stated "I hope to see games at all three of them sometime this fall. I plan on attending the Michigan State vs. Notre Dame game. I have already been up to Michigan State twice so far. I was able to go up there and watch a practice. Coach Samuel is my recruiting contact from there."

If the Spartans were to offer a scholarship to Turner, they would likely be in a strong position to receive a commitment. He talked about some the things he is looking for in a college.

"I am looking to study Mechanical Engineer," he stated. "I want a school that is strong in my field of study. How far it is from home and feeling comfortable with the school and the football program are also important to me."

Right now Turner is no hurry to make his college decision. He plans on getting his highlight film out to coaches this fall so they can evaluate it. It will likely be a situation where once one BCS team extends an offer, several more will follow suit.

Chandler Park Academy is currently 1-1 on the season. Tuner serves as one of the teams captains along with University of Michigan class of 2013 commitment Csont'e York. will be sure keep tabs on Turner's recruitment this fall.
