Mahon planning BC visit

Brendan Mahon had a strong showing at the U.S. Army National Combine in recent weeks in San Antonio and now the Randolph, N.J., offensive tackle is gearing up for some unofficial visits.

Since his dominant performance at the Army combine a bunch of other major programs have contacted Mahon and he said he's interested in taking some trips to see what other places could offer.

So far, Boston College, Connecticut and Rutgers have offered. Many more programs are showing interest in him.

"It hasn't been major but a couple more schools have taken interest," Mahon said. "I've been contacted by Alabama, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Miami, Florida and Wake Forest. It has been a good amount of schools.

"It's a little bit of a surprise with some of those bigger SEC schools but I'd actually like to get more and then go down there in the spring sometime and see some of the games and see what Southern football is all about."

From the Army combine, Mahon was named Rivals.com First-Team: All-Combine. He said Penn State is a dream school but is still open to many other options and is looking ahead to his upcoming trip to Boston College.
