HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's basketball team, coming off a 2-1 showing at the Paradise Jam, will play for the first time in a week tonight night when it hosts South Alabama at 7:00 p.m. (CT) at Reed Green Coliseum.

Southern Miss holds a 19-14 advantage in the series, including an 11-6 record in Hattiesburg. However, the Jaguars have won the last two meetings.

Last year, South Alabama defeated the Golden Eagles in Mobile, 75-68, in a game in which Southern Miss never led. Four Eagles scored in double-figures, led by R.L. Horton's 17 points. Sai'Quon Stone had 13, Courtney Beasley scored 12, and Jeremy Wise added ten points.

At the Paradise Jam, Southern Miss opened with a 70-60 loss against No. 16 Miami (Fla.). The Eagles rebounded against LaSalle, rallying from an 18-point deficit to score a 76-72 overtime win. They came back again versus Iona, this time from ten points, to earn a 64-63 victory.

South Alabama enters Tuesday's game with a 4-3 record. The Jaguars are coming off a 2-0 record at the USA Basketball Classic. The Jaguars defeated Maine, 71-59, and then took care of UC-Davis in the championship, 72-60. Against UC-Davis, DeAndre' Coleman led the Jaguars with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Dominic Tilford leads USA with 17.6 points per game. Brandon Davis is averaging 16.4 points and a team-high 8.0 rebounds. Coleman is adding 11.3 points.

South Alabama head coach Ronnie Arrow holds a 144-104 record in his eighth year (two different stints) at the helm of the Jaguars. He holds is 278-105 in his career.

The game will be broadcast on WXRR-FM 104.5, with the pregame showing beginning at 6:30 p.m.
