Crenshaw ready to compete
Incoming freshman defensive end Chris Crenshaw's cousin Barry Bostic verbally committed to Georgia Tech yesterday, which will reunite them in 2010, but Crenshaw has things that are more important on his mind. Crenshaw is hoping to get on the field in 2009 as a true freshman.
"I know I have to get off to a great start because I want to get some playing time this year," he said. "I want to get into the workouts and get faster and compete. I am tired of watching television."
Crenshaw reports on June 16 to start school with his first team workouts beginning shortly after that. Since signing day Crenshaw has been focused on getting some playing time during his workouts.
"All I have been thinking about is that defensive end positions are kind of open," he said. "I think it is open for anybody and hopefully if I work really hard maybe I can start at one of the defensive end spots."
As a defensive end, Crenshaw has one player that he is patterning his game after. Crenshaw is six-foot-three and 238 pounds.
"I really like Dwight Freeney because he is not too tall, but he is real quick out there," Crenshaw said.
Overall, Crenshaw is just ready to be a fulltime member of the Georgia Tech football team.
"I am looking forward to getting down there and getting to meet all the people and I am ready to go," he said.
