Late free throws lift WVU over Ole Miss, 80-78

WVSports.com The West Virginia University men's basketball team squandered another halftime lead at Mississippi on Wednesday night, but the Mountaineers were able to pull out a last-second, 80-78 victory over the Rebels in Oxford. Da'Sean Butler led WVU with 22 points, with Alex Ruoff adding 16 and John Flowers chipping in with 13. David Huertas led Ole Miss with 23 points, while Chris Warren contributed 21. The Rebels entered the game with a 25-game home winning streak against non-conference opponents and nearly overcame a 7-point halftime deficit to notch what would have been their sixth win in seven games. Instead, their home winning streak was ended by an equally gritty and determined group of Mountaineers coming off a tough loss to Kentucky in the final round of the Las Vegas Invitational Tournament.
