Servite Serves Up Chris Galippo
You won't find Servite in the Rivals.com Fab-50 list of top high schools in the nation. But what statistics and records don't reveal is one of its greatest strengths: the poise and confidence they seem to instill in their football players as evident by redshirt freshman Chris Galippo.
"All Servite is about is being mature; being a man, learning those types of people skills when you get in there as a freshman," the backup linebacker said of his preparation for joining the Trojan squad in 2007.
After seeing playing time in three games last year, Galippo suffered a herniated disk and had to sit out the rest of the season. Fortunately for Trojans, even his injury was sensibly-timed as he salvaged his redshirt eligibility.
And now he's just simply eligible to compete with some of the best on the linebacker depth chart, getting tips from Luthur Brown and Rey Maualuga on how to politely scare the living daylights out of anyone with the football. He's been taking over the middle linebacker role for Maualuga, who's nursing a hamstring injury.
