Ayers known more for hit off Dice-K

If Johnny Ayers' athletic career ends with his senior season at Boston College, the Eagles' punter will still have a calling card for the rest of his life.

The card is in the form of a baseball. It's the one Ayers, as a member of the BC baseball team, slapped for a double off Red Sox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka last spring the Japanese hurler's first appearance in a Sox uniform.

Ayers has played football on national television and in front of 80,000-plus people in places like Clemson, Florida State and Notre Dame, but that leadoff hit is still the biggest thing that's happened to him, at least from an outsider's point of view.
