Humble approach leads to stardom

Jonal Saint-Dic must've salivated after seeing this stat: Notre Dame's offensive line ranks last in the nation, giving up 23 sacks in three games.

Always humble, though, Michigan State's reigning Big Ten co-Defensive Player of the Week isn't looking too closely at that statistic, or looking past the Irish for that matter. This week the operative word in the MSU camp has been "focus."

And the Spartans defense has been just that - with an "ed" - in three games this fall.

Currently the Spartans are on a roll, wracking up 17 sacks, which leads the nation along with conference neighbors Indiana and Penn State. Their season-high (7) came against Bowling Green in week two, yet their most important effort came in a nail-biting finish against Pitt a week ago.
