Cal vs. Colorado State Preview
If the Cal football team is to truly take that next step this season in advancing its program to a national level that is respected all across the country, winning on the road becomes an absolute must. Bears' coach Jeff Tedford has noted on numerous occasions over the past few weeks how mature and mentally strong this 2007 group is. Of course, nothing tests mental toughness in sports more than playing in an opposing team's venue. No. 10 Cal takes its first shot away from Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon against Colorado State.
During Tedford's six-year tenure at the helm in Berkeley, Cal has accumulated a 16-12 record on the road, excluding bowl games. Not an outstanding mark by any means. The Bears have had their fair share of squeakers that came down to the wire in opposing stadiums as well as a couple of blowout losses.
