Williams ready for semi-homecoming

STORRS, Conn. - Saturday is already shaping up to be an important day for Julius Williams.

The junior defensive end, who converted from middle linebacker this spring, will not only be feeling the pressure of making the first start of his career, but he'll also have the added bonus of doing it in front of his parents, family members and other close friends.

Williams, from Decatur, Ga., will be taking the field in front of a home crowd for the first time since the team traveled to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech in his freshman year. With the Huskies only scheduled to make one more trip to the South during his stay at UConn - a game at North Carolina is penciled in for next season - Williams will get a rare opportunity to show off for the 30 people he has planning to make the four-hour trip to Wallace Wade Stadium Saturday.

"I'm excited, man. I can't wait until it starts," Williams said. "My family never really gets the chance to come up to Connecticut to see me play, but it's all good. They catch TV games and I always check in with them after the game to let them know what's going on."
