Play like giants
Last season the offensive line was one of the biggest concerns for the Orange. They struggled to protect Perry Patterson and made it difficult for the Orange to establish a running game. Delone Carter gained a great deal of his yardage making impressive cuts in the open field rather than following blockers.
Of last year's starters, Carroll Madison, Ryan Durand, and Marvin McCall will be returning. Madison will be a senior and play left guard, McCall will be a senior playing center, and Ryan Durand will be a junior playing right guard. These three will be the experienced core of this year's line.
Filling in at the tackle positions will be junior Corey Chavers on the left and senior Larry Norton on the right.
This year's line certainly has the size to stop defenses, with the average SU lineman standing over six-foot-three and weighing 305 pounds. Two Orange lineman stand six-foot-five or taller and three are at least 310 pounds.
The question will be weather this year's unit will be quick enough and fundamentally sound enough to protect young quarterback Andrew Robinson and lead the way for the ground game.
