Robinson Gearing Up for Important Month

For college hoops prospects looking to make a name for themselves, and/or secure scholarship offers, the month of July is of tremendous importance. After being restricted to campus for nearly two months, college coaches will be back out on the road for the summer's final evaluation period, and for prospects like Gerald Robinson, the next few weeks are filled will be filled with both pressure and promise.

Robinson (6-foot-0, 175 pounds), from Antioch, popped up on the recruiting radar after the spring evaluation period during which he impressed with strong performances at the Real Deal tournament in Fayetteville, Ark. and also on his home turf at the King of the South tournament in Nashville.

Recruiters and analysts alike were more than a little impressed with Robinson's quickness, which is a cut above even what you see in elite high school guards. The challenge for Robinson since first getting the attention of big-time programs, has been to show that he can harness that quickness into running a team effectively at the point.

If he continues to make progress in that area, expect some big offers to follow. East Carolina, from Conference USA, has joined several OVC schools in offering Robinson, and Ole Miss is a school that he says has been making more serious overtures lately as well.
