Decision time is nearing for Hardee (Wauchula, Fla.) defensive end Keyon Brown. But before that decision, the Rivals250 prospect decided to take the first of his five official visit to Georgia last weekend.
Brown and his parents arrived in Athens on Friday where Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham greeted them.
"It went good. I met up Coach Grantham when I first got there and hung out with him. Then I went to the game on Saturday. I had a lot of fun there," Brown said. "I saw the coaches afterwards. Then on Sunday we went to Coach (Mark) Richt's house to eat lunch with him and his wife. It was all great."
North Texas was Georgia's opponent on Saturday where the Bulldogs defeated the Mean Green 45-21.
Brown took notice of how well the Georgia defense played in the win.
"The game was good. I had a good time," he said.. The special teams gave up a couple of plays but other than that, the defense played really good."
Coming into his official visit. Brown had named Georgia his leader. According to the Sunshine standout, nothing has changed now that his UGA visit has concluded.
Two of Brown's home state schools, however, may be giving the Bulldogs come competition.
"Yes. I believe Georgia is still my leader," Brown said. "Florida State and Miami are also in there too. Those are the schools I am looking at right now."
UGA has held a lead for the four-star prospect since spring and Brown says a big reason for that is how he has clicked with the Georgia staff and program as a whole.
"Georgia has really came after me hard," he said of his reasons for having UGA as his leader. "I like the program, the facilities, and the environment there. It is a small town that reminds me of where I'm from."
Brown is being recruited by the Bulldogs to play the all-important pass rushing outside linebacker role in Georgia's 3-4 defense.
During his official visit, the UGA staff gave Brown a clear message for what his role will be should he choose the Bulldogs later this week.
"They told me that they want me to come off the edge and rush the quarterback," he said. "That is about it."
With a decision coming at his high school on noon Thursday, Brown says that he may already know which school he will choose.
"I think I have a pretty good idea of where I want to go," Brown said. "I just want to take some time to think about my decision and make sure I am in the best environment for me."
