Position recruiting: QB
The last time the Oregon Ducks pursued a quarterback with no starts in high school, he turned out to be pretty good.
Marcus Mariota had to wait until his senior year to start at St. Louis High in Hawaii, mired on the bench behind a D-1 prospect. The Ducks spotted him at Oregon's high school camp that summer and offered him on the spot.
As a prep senior the 6-4 signal caller blew up, with 2,597 yards passing and 32 touchdowns, 455 yards rushing, and the rest of the country knew the Ducks had found a special future quarterback. USC and Washington were calling him right up to Signing Day in 2011.
