Three-star lineman decommits from Florida
Deland (Fla.) three star offensive tackle Benjamin Knox committed to Florida Gators back in February. Since then there have been many rumors surrounding his commitment, which finally came to a head on Tuesday when he publicly decommitted from UF.
"At this very moment I am decommitting," said Knox in a text message to Inside the Gators. "Reason why because I haven't heard from them in a month."
It has been speculated for months that at some point Florida and Knox would eventually part ways. The talk of whether or not he should have been a take for the Gators began after he was clearly over-matched at a Rivals Camp in the spring and continued after he was consistently beaten by the defensive lineman he faced during a Florida summer camp session.
After several trips over to Tampa, the South Florida Bulls were a team many thought would be the final destination for the 6-foot-6, 259-pound big man. However it was the Louisville Cardinals that he spoke highly of shortly after ending his pledge with the Orange and Blue.
"I am looking at a handful right now. I am looking towards Charlie Strong [at Louisville]."
Knox is Florida's fifth decommitment in the 2014 recruiting cycle.
