McDonough 35 LB Rene Fleury joins the fold
Linebacker Rene Fleury had no other offers when he committed to Tulane on Thursday, but his low profile could change significantly in the next few months.
Fleury, who played last year at struggling KIPP Sarah Reed in New Orleans East, has transferred to McDonough 35 for his senior season. Sarah Reed won three times in 2012 and had to forfeit all three victories for using three players who were academically ineligible. McDonough 35 and veteran coach Wayne Reese reached the semifinals of the Class 4A state playoffs last year with the help of current Tulane freshman offensive tackle Kenneth Santa Marina.
"They (Sarah Reed) didn't really have a good coaching staff and they didn't have any players on my team on my level," Fleury said. "The coaching and the competition will be a lot better at McDonough 35. I'm a senior now, I've improved and I look forward to playing."
