Kicking commitment predicts big things for Tulane
Florida kicker Andrew DiRocco tweeted Tulane was the "perfect fit" after committing earlier this week. Thursday afternoon, he ran off a long list of reasons for his pronouncement.
Tulane is closer to his hometown of Fort Lauderdale than the other schools he considered seriously -Hawaii, Air Force and Villanova.
Tulane's academics compare favorably to just about any school.
He loved the campus when he visited it last week, pointing out it was its own city in plenty of ways and he'd "never have to leave it if he didn't want to."
Those were secondary factors, though. What really sold him on Tulane was its potential on the field and the positivity of the coaches. Coming from a University City high school program that went undefeated last season and outscored opponents 127-34 in the playoffs en route to the Class 3A state championship, he wants to win and is convinced Tulane will buck its recent history in that regard.
