Hoops holds open practice
Coach Ben Howland opened Monday's basketball practice to the media and the Hoopsters basketball support group.
The practice started at 3pm and it was clear who ran the practice as Howland was the only one talking and calling the drills.
Coach Howland makes every minute of his practices count, running his drills with close attention to all the details with a loud and commanding voice.
The basketball trainer Wes Long started the practice with ten minutes of stretching and skipping lines back and forth down the court. Then Howland took over, running a five man full court passing drill and a half court offensive set, having the shooters go off screens and shooting or passing to the big men for layups. Then the players divided up at different baskets to practice catching passes and scoring with a defensive man guarding them.
